Celebrating Young Volunteers #volunteersweekscot
This Volunteers’ Week we want to celebrate all the young volunteers who give their time and skills to make a difference to their communities. If you’d like to join in with young people in your organisation or community, find more information below on the Saltire and Summit Awards!
Saltire Awards
Saltire Awards is a nationally recognised scheme celebrating youth volunteering in Scotland.
Any young person, aged 12-25, can gain recognition for their volunteering.
There are certificates for young people who are just getting started in volunteering through team challenges; certificates to celebrate various milestones from 10 hours right the way up to 500 hours; and the Summit Award for young people that have made an outstanding contribution to volunteering. All certificates are signed by Scottish Government ministers and look fantastic on CVs and application forms.
Sign up for Saltire today and start gaining recognition for the great things you are doing! Young people, aged 12-25, can sign up here: https://saltireawards.scot/sign-up
There is also a Group Administration function to help organisations (including schools) to support young volunteers to gain the recognition they deserve.
A Group Administrator account allows all volunteer involving organisations (VIOs) and schools to request and print Saltire Awards certificates on behalf of the young people they support.
Organisations supporting volunteers, aged 12-25, can sign up as Group Administrators for Saltire here: https://saltireawards.scot/sign-up-admin
It’s pretty straightforward but please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries. Email emma.mclean@volunteerglasgow.org.
Summit Award Nominations
Do you know a young person who had made an outstanding contribution through volunteering? Do they stand out from the rest, go above and beyond and exceed all expectations? Then why not nominate them for a Summit Award?
The Summit Award recognises young volunteers who have gone above and beyond, to have a positive impact in their community and/or their own development.
To be nominated, young people must be:
· Resident in Scotland
· Aged between 12-25
· Nominated by either: the organisation they volunteer for, their school, college or University or local Saltire delivery office (or Third Sector Interface)
· Not a previous Summit Award winner
