Climate Action Spotlight – Bike for Good
For our Climate Action campaign we will be spotlighting organisations in Glasgow that are making a fantastic impact in the Climate Action Movement with the support of volunteers.
Today’s spotlight is Bike for Good – an incredible charity and social enterprise based across two hubs in the Westend and Southside of Glasgow.
“Our mission is to change lives through cycling. Cycling has a multitude of benefits for society, from environmental improvements to health promotion and financial savings. Our aim is to make cycling accessible to everyone in and around Scotland – no matter what their circumstances. We believe that cycling is the most effective and sustainable form of transport, enhancing our chances for a healthy life and environment. Volunteers support the Active Travel team and the Health and Wellbeing team with cycle lessons and bike rides and with increasing people’s confidence in biking. We refurbish over 1000 bikes per year, diverting tonnes of waste from landfill while also providing access to affordable bikes to the public. Volunteers play an important part in this as they help to strip bikes for parts and also help to prepare bikes for refurbishment.”
