Organisation Support E-Bulletin – October 2022

Welcome to our Monthly E-bulletin for October – keeping you informed with the latest news, updates and information from Volunteer Glasgow’s Organisation Support team! If you have something relevant to Volunteer Managers that you want us to include in the next e-bulletin please let us know.

Trustees Week (7th – 11th Nov 2022) – Events and Support

We’re looking forward to Trustees Week 2022 with events and services planned to support organisations and volunteers.

On Tuesday 8th November we’ll be hosting an online Volunteer Advertising Workshop with a focus on Trustee recruitment – keep an eye out for the Eventbrite link to book your free space, which we’ll be sharing soon.

Then, we’re partnering with GCVS, GSEN and CEIS to host our live Getting On Board event on Thursday 10th November. The event is sold out for interested volunteers and there are very limited spaces for providers to take part, however we will be sharing a directory of organisations looking for board members to attendees. If you’re currently recruiting for trustees or hoping to do so in the near future, please let us know as soon as possible by contacting findvolunteers@volunteerglasgow.org so that we can include your organisation.

We’ll also be sharing trustee volunteering opportunities on our social media platforms throughout Trustees Week, so if your opportunity needs a boost just let us know.

Share Your Feedback – Cost of Living Survey

The growing cost of living crisis is having an impact on us all. In response to this, Volunteer Scotland has undertaken a rapid review of the available evidence to look explicitly at the impact of the crisis on volunteers and volunteering. (You can read their Cost of Living Report HERE).

We’d like to hear from you, as a volunteer involving organisation, how the recent crisis has impacted your volunteer uptake. We will use this information to target our services and support to your needs in the upcoming months.

You can access the survey by clicking this link.

The survey should only take a few minutes of your time and we thank you greatly in advance.

Christmas Opportunities

A festive reminder that Christmas is fast approaching! If your organisation is recruiting for volunteer roles that will be taking place over Christmas, make sure to submit them over the next few weeks to give you plenty of time to get back to applicants.

Team Volunteering Opportunities

Are you struggling with a task that requires a bit of teamwork? Corporate teams are looking for opportunities to donate their time and skills to organisations in Glasgow – if you have a project or task that could be supported by a team of volunteers, get in touch with us at findvolunteers@volunteerglasgow.org and we can help to make a match.

Cost of Living and the #RunningCostsCrisis – SCVO Support

We know that many organisations will have been impacted by the ongoing cost of living crisis and may be concerned about being able to continue delivering their services. For advice, resources and support, head to SCVO’s Cost of Living and #RunningCosts Crisis hub by clicking this link.

To celebrate all the amazing work that YOU are doing as volunteering providers, we are proud to announce a new monthly recognition award – Provider of the Month!  If you have done something exciting, launched a new activity, had a great event or just want to show off how amazing and meaningful your work is – give us a heads-up, and we may highlight you in our next e-bulletin!

Read more about Victim Support Scotland in their own words below:

We support victims of crime, witnesses, and their family members, regardless of who they are and their circumstances. Our service is independent, free, non-judgemental and confidential. We offer bespoke support, personalised to the needs of each individual.
We have dedicated volunteers in our national and local offices across Scotland, as well as our teams in the Sheriff and High Courts, helping us to provide high quality support to those affected by crime. In Glasgow, you can find us at the Granite House in city centre, as well as Glasgow Sheriff Court and High Court. We could not do what we do for our service users without our volunteers; we appreciate their efforts greatly.
