Looking for something else?
We can blog your Offer and email the 1100ish not-for-profits that are registered with us in Glasgow to see if your Offer matches what any of them need done. Once the blog content is agreed, we can arrange for interested organisations to contact you or a nominated person and hopefully then you’re off!
The trick is to find a balance between being flexible enough to get a good choice of challenges/responding organisations and being precise enough to ensure that your group gets the challenge it wants.
Have a think about:
- Your team – What size is it? Some not-for-profits may not be able to accommodate a large group. In those circumstances it might be worthwhile considering volunteering in sub-teams.
- When? – make your plans in good time. Not-for-profits will already have made plans for the near future so won’t have capacity to support you and your team. If the “when” is specific, then let us know the detail.
- Where? most of the organisations registered with us are based in Glasgow – does that suit? Do you have preferences about where in Glasgow?
- Are there specific tasks or types of task that your group is interested in? It’s important that the activity is rewarding for people but also useful to know if there is anything that would be out of the question. Any specific skills? Indoors/outdoors?
- Are there specific causes or types of organisation that you would want to support? This might fit with the corporate priorities of your employer or simply the aspirations and interests of the people in the group.
- Anybody in the group with mobility issues or similar? – this may inform the type of challenge
- Would you be the contact person and what email address would be appropriate? (Organisations will complete a short form and it goes directly to a nominated person)
- How long might an organisation expect to wait before receiving a response? People often say 5 working days
- Are you able to supply a logo to give your blog some visual punch?
- Basically, we should specify anything that’s important to your group so anything else?
What does it cost?
- If you want to use Volunteer Glasgow’s expert service to promote your team offer and connect with not-for-profits that are seeking your help, this currently costs us an average of £32. If you’re a team of employees from a private sector employer, please consider making a donation and paying what you can towards that cost: click here to make a donation now OR pledge an amount in the “Any other…” section in the form below and we’ll contact you.
- Not-for-profits may have additional costs if they host your team: you’ll need to consider any such costs and if you can help meet those. Some not-for-profits may charge you a hosting and facilitation fee if you are a team of employees from a private sector company.
