Beth Orkisz is the latest addition to our Organisation Support Team:
“I’m Beth, with a background in mental health recovery, community projects in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and social research in Equalities and Human Rights. Having been a volunteer myself in various capacities after I moved to Scotland from the South of England, I’m passionate about the benefits volunteering can bring for ourselves and the wider community and I’m very stoked to now be part of the lovely VG Team!”
Free Advertising Workshop
Our next online Advertising Workshop for Volunteer Managers and Coordinators takes place on Monday 18th August, 1pm-3pm.
This 2 hour workshop is a great opportunity to learn how to make best use of our advertising service and create exciting, inclusive opportunities for people to volunteer.
Family Volunteering Hub – Job Vacancy
We are excited that Family Volunteering Club is coming to Glasgow!
Family Volunteering Club is on a mission to make it really easy for kids aged 0-9 and their grown-ups to help out at important causes on their doorstep. The aim is to help create a society in which every child grows up feeling connected to their local community, and understands the positive role they can play. Family Volunteering Hub works with different charities and community groups to create programmes of fun, impactful, tailor-made volunteering sessions, specifically for kids and their families!
Family Volunteering Hub is recruiting for a Local Coordinator to take on the planning and delivery of this pilot programme: https://www.familyvolunteeringclub.co.uk/workwithus
From September 2025 – August 2026, the Local Coordinator will work with the local community to plan and then deliver a programme of 16 family-friendly volunteering sessions specifically in the North West of the city: approximately Anderston to Milton, across to Drumchapel, and south to the River Clyde at Yoker. Once this initial programme is complete, we hope to secure further funding to enable the programme to continue and grow beyond August 2026.
Do you want to be a Smarter Volunteer Manager?
Recruiting and retaining volunteers can be challenging. Could your volunteering programme use a refresh? Or perhaps you’re new to your role in engaging volunteers.
Volunteer Glasgow’s Smarter Volunteer Manager programme gives you the tools, based on our Dynamic Model of Volunteering, to create a volunteer experience that benefits your organisation, the people giving their time, and the communities or individuals they support. That’s the key to successful recruitment and retention.
There are three programmes remaining this financial year and our next programme begins Thursday 11th September. It will run for 6 session between 10 am – 1 pm on the following dates: 11th, 18th and 25th Sept; 2nd, 9th and 23rd Oct).
Team Volunteering
Team Volunteering is a great way to help address tasks or projects that are important but not urgent or that require skills that are hard to find. Volunteer Glasgow is getting more and more Offers from workplaces for teams to volunteer so keep an eye out for emails from us sharing them. Each Offer gets on average 10 responses from community groups keen to engage with a workplace so if you see an Offer that you like, remember you’re in competition! Workplaces want to hear from community groups whose Challenge matches with what they’re offering; they want to hear about the impact their volunteering with you will have and how important it is. If you want more information or want us to publicise a Challenge for Teams, just get in touch by email at info@volunteerglasgow.org.
Attending our events
We would like to gently remind you to check your calendar before you book a space for one of our events to make sure that you are available to attend and if you find that you can no longer attend nearer the time, please do let us know or even better cancel your space on Eventbrite. This frees up spaces for other people.
