Organisation Support e-bulletin – September 2026
Welcome to our Monthly e-Bulletin for September – keeping you informed with the latest news, updates and information from Volunteer Glasgow’s Organisation Support team. If you have something relevant to Volunteer Managers that you would like us to include in the next e-Bulletin, please get in touch.
Thank you for being part of our citywide volunteering fairs💙
Earlier this week, we brought our annual citywide volunteering fair to Glasgow City Chambers — the culmination of weeks of planning and hard work from our Volunteering Services team.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the organisations who hosted stalls at the City Chambers event, as well as those who took part in our Glasgow 2026 Volunteering Legacy-funded events in Parkhead, Maryhill and Pollokshaws.
Your time, enthusiasm and commitment helped showcase the fantastic range of volunteering opportunities available across Glasgow and gave local people the chance to connect with organisations and find out how they can get involved.
We’d love to hear how you found the events and what you thought worked well — as well as anything we could do differently in future.
If you attended one or more of our Legacy funded events, we’d be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete our evaluation form:

Thank you again for helping us make these events a success — and for everything you do to support volunteering across Glasgow.

📣Advertising Workshop: Creating Inclusive & Appealing Volunteer Adverts
Tuesday 20 October | 10.20am–12pm | Online via Teams | Free
Are your volunteering opportunities reaching the people you’d like to attract?
Join us for our next Advertising Workshop, a free 1.5-hour session for organisations that are recruiting and advertising for volunteers.
The workshop is designed to help you create inclusive, accessible and appealing volunteering opportunity adverts that encourage people to find out more and get involved.
We’ll look at practical ways to:
- Make your volunteering adverts clear, engaging and welcoming.
- Use inclusive language and remove potential barriers.
- Highlight what volunteers can gain from the experience.
- Think about the information potential volunteers need to decide whether an opportunity is right for them.
- Create adverts that appeal to a wider range of potential volunteers.
Whether you’re creating a new opportunity or reviewing your existing adverts, this session will provide practical ideas and tips that you can take away and use straight away.

🌟 Can your organisation offer a volunteering taster session?
Volunteer Glasgow is looking for organisations to join our pool of volunteering taster providers — and we’d love to hear from you.
Between now and March 2027, we’ll be delivering three supported volunteering programmes, each including a series of volunteering taster sessions designed to give participants the chance to try something new, build confidence and discover what volunteering has to offer.
We’re looking for organisations who can provide one-off, interactive taster sessions for participants.
What would you need to do?
A taster session would last around 1.5–2 hours and could include:
- A short introduction to your organisation and the volunteering opportunities you offer
- A practical, hands-on activity linked to the type of volunteering you do
- An opportunity for participants to try something new, learn a skill or build confidence
- Information about how participants could get involved with your organisation in the future
It doesn’t need to be complicated! We’re particularly interested in fun, practical activities that give people a genuine flavour of what volunteering with your organisation could be like.
💷 £60 payment per session
We’ll provide £60 for each taster session to help cover your planning and delivery costs.
You can get involved as much or as little as you like
There are three programmes, with three taster sessions planned for each programme.
You can offer to support one, two or all three programmes, depending on your capacity and availability.
We’re building a pool of organisations now. Once programme dates are confirmed, we’ll contact you to check your availability and arrange a suitable session.
Interested?
If your organisation could offer a volunteering taster session, please email emma.mclean@volunteerglasgow.org with:
📅 The days/times that generally work for you
📍 Where the session would take place
📝 A brief description of the taster activity you could offer
👥 Whether you’d be interested in supporting one, two or all three programmes
You don’t need to have everything fully planned at this stage — we’re simply looking to hear from organisations who might be interested.
👉 Could you offer people a chance to have a go at volunteering? Get in touch and join our pool of taster providers.
If you’d like to chat through an idea before committing, please get in touch.
Volunteering Information Afternoon – Meet Potential Volunteers
The next Volunteering Information Afternoon at Scottish Refugee Council is taking place on Friday 25 September, and we’d love to have a wide range of volunteer-involving organisations represented.
The session brings together refugees and people in the asylum process who are looking for volunteering opportunities with organisations keen to welcome new volunteers.
It’s a great opportunity to meet potential volunteers face-to-face, showcase your volunteering opportunities and have informal conversations in a friendly, sociable setting.
Could your organisation get involved?
If you are a volunteer-involving organisation interested in engaging refugees and people in the asylum process in your volunteering programme, we’d love you to join us.
If you’re available to attend, please email Scottish Refugee Council to let them know.
