Christmas Opportunities
A festive reminder that Christmas is fast approaching! If your organisation is recruiting for volunteer roles that will be taking place over Christmas, make sure to submit them over the next few weeks to give you plenty of time to get back to applicants.
Volunteer Opportunity Information Urgently Required! (Shettleston)
As part of National Older Workers Week 2023, there will be an event taking place at Shettleston Job Centre on Monday 20th November. If you are seeking volunteers in or around the Shettleston area, particularly in roles with minimal entry requirements, please get in touch with jane.porter@dwp.gov.uk with information which can be shared with event attendees.
Give It A GO – Introductory Volunteering Sessions
Glasgow Caledonian University Students’ Association are running a programme called ‘Give It a GO’. The Students’ Association will be delivering a series of introductory activities with external charities and organisations to provide the opportunity for students to “Give It A Go”!
The programme will run in two blocks, the first for 7 weeks from 13th Nov to 15th Dec 2023 and the second for 10 weeks from 29th Jan to 15th Mar 2024. Due to timetables of students the activities will be better attended if they delivered in the evenings on weekdays.
Through this programme, your organisation has the opportunity to host an introductory activity to gain students interest and recruit them as volunteers or users of your service. The GCU Students’ Association will support you by promoting to students, university-wide, and targeting the societies and courses most relevant to the experience. Costs and expenses can be negotiated.

Attending Workshops & Events
Volunteer Glasgow run free workshops and events every month to support volunteer managers and coordinators. We have noticed a sharp increase in people booking a place on these workshops, but not turning up to the meeting. We understand that volunteer managers are very busy people and occasionally issues will occur that require your attention and you may not be able to attend these workshops anymore.
However, we ask that you do try to let us know in advance so that we are not waiting to start the session as this impacts our ability to facilitate and the experience of attendees. If time allows, it would be very helpful to cancel your Eventbrite booking so that we know there is a place for someone else to attend. Please note that if you sign up to a free event and do not attend without letting us know, you will not be included in emails sharing resources and information arising from the discussion in that session.
Thank you for reading and if you have any questions about the Organisation Support offered at Volunteer Glasgow, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at findvolunteers@volunteerglasgow.org.
