Could your organisation offer a taster session for a group of volunteers?

Volunteer Glasgow have been contacted by local colleges on the lookout for volunteer Taster Sessions for their students. Taster Sessions are a great opportunity for students to get to know about the wide variety of volunteer opportunities on offer, to discover the benefits of volunteering and to increase their confidence when it comes to applying for volunteering roles. There are loads of benefits for your organisation too – it gives you chance to tap into a whole new volunteer audience, to promote the work you’re doing and to learn how best to recruit and involve younger people.

Taster Sessions would last a maximum of 2 hours, and would likely be a one-off event, unless further involvement is agreed between your organisation and the group. The groups would love a brief introduction to the valuable work that you do, to be able to help out with some volunteering activities and maybe even get to meet a current volunteer. The group would be accompanied by staff from the college, and the group size could be agreed before the event.

If you’d like to host a Taster Session, get in touch with Emily from the Organisation Support team on emily.corner@volunteerglasgow.org.

Volunteer Managers’ Network – Join In!

Our Slack forum for Volunteer Managers continues to grow – there are now over 80 volunteer coordinators and managers networking and sharing resources on the forum!

There is a general channel for discussion and networking as well as a training channel specifically for sharing helpful training ideas for yourselves as volunteer managers or your volunteers.  We are eager that the forum will develop overtime as it grows and changes to suit members needs, so please do get involved and help shape the network to best support volunteer managers across Glasgow.
