Upcoming Events
Volunteer Glasgow’s Inclusive Volunteering Event
There are still spaces available for our Inclusive Volunteering Event which will take place on Tuesday 31st March, 10am – 1pm.
This year it is a shorter event but no less impactful as we will be learning together how we improve our inclusive practice for involving volunteers with a template action plan provided so we can implement effective and achievable steps in our organisations.
This year’s expert speakers include Youth VIP, Scottish Refugee Council and Glasgow Disability Alliance. As well as presentations, there will be an opportunity to ask them your questions during a panel Q&A session. You can book your FREE space by clicking on this link
Level up your Volunteer Management in 2026
“(I) started the programme with next to no formal knowledge or understanding of the volunteer journey. I am leaving feeling confident in the process and my ability to support volunteers. Volunteer Glasgow’s Smarter Volunteer Manager programme gives you the tools, based on our Dynamic Model of Volunteering, to create a volunteer experience that benefits your organisation, the people giving their time, and the communities or individuals they support. That’s the key to successful recruitment and retention.
We have programmes running throughout the year. We have just added another programme, due to start at the end of May, and watch out for details of another programme scheduled to run September – October:
- April – May 2026: Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00pm (Session Dates: 15th, 22nd, 29th April & 6th, 13th, 27th May)
- May/June – July 2026: Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00pm (Session Dates: 26th May, 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd June, 7th July)
- July – August 2026: Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00pm (Session Dates: 15th, 22nd, 29th July & 5th, 12th, 26th August)
- September – October 2026: Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00pm (Session Dates to be confirmed)
- October – November 2026: Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00pm (Session Dates: 14th, 21st, 28th October & 4th, 11th, 25th November)
NB: Further dates to be announced for 2026 once confirmed.
2027 Dates:
- February-March 2027: Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. (Session dates: 10th, 17th and 24th Feb; 3rd, 10th and 24th March)

Events schedule for 2026-27
You can now view our new events schedule at-a-glance. There will some changes to our services in the new financial year, with our individual events taking place on a quarterly basis. This means that every month we will have a different service for you to take advantage of – including online and in-person networking events, and our free online Volunteer Advertising Workshop.
Are you recruiting volunteers?
We are kicking off the new financial year with our first quarterly online Volunteer Advertising Workshop.
This free online training session will help you to make best use of our digital advertising service, and provides valuable hints and tips on how to create more effective, inclusive and accessible volunteering opportunity adverts. It is ideal if you are new to volunteer recruitment – but also great if you are making updates to your volunteer programme or if recruitment isn’t going as well as you would like, and just want a refresher!
The workshop takes place via Teams on:

Attending our events
Our last in-person networking event was hosted by The Wee Retreat and we had a fabulous agenda to share with participants. However, we were disappointed by the turnout, with only two people (from a possible 14) attending on the day. Despite multiple reminders, only two people let us know that they were no longer able to attend.
We are a small team and considerable time and energy goes into preparing for and delivering these events, and we are grateful to the organisations who provide venues ‘in-kind’. We aim to provide an effective platform for you to network with your peers from other volunteer-involving organisations, and to get the most from Volunteer Glasgow; however, these events are always more effective when we have a good turnout.
We appreciate that things come up at the last minute and we accept that no-shows and last minute call offs are inevitable, but we would like to remind you to please get in touch or cancel your ticket via Eventbrite if you can no longer attend. We look forward to welcoming you at future events.
Interested in involving New Scots?
The next Volunteering Information Afternoon at Scottish Refugee Council takes place on Friday 27th March. This session is for refugees and people in the asylum process, who are looking for volunteering opportunities.
If you are a volunteer-involving organisation interested in involving refugees in your volunteering programme, and you are available to join this session, please email Scottish Refugee Council.
