Involving Refugees & People Seeking Asylum
The Scottish Refugee Council is hosting its next Volunteering Information Afternoon on Friday 31st July, and is inviting volunteer-involving organisations to come along and showcase their volunteering opportunities.
If your organisation is interested in engaging refugees and people seeking asylum in your volunteering programme, this is an excellent opportunity to meet potential volunteers, raise awareness of your roles, and make new connections in a welcoming and informal setting.

In-Person Networking for Volunteer Managers & Coordinators
Our next in-person networking event will take place on Tuesday 25th August at Parent Network Scotland, 2nd Floor, Waterloo Chambers, 19 Waterloo Street, Glasgow G2 6AY.
We’re currently finalising the event timings. As soon as these are confirmed, the event will be added to the Volunteer Glasgow Eventbrite page, where you can register your place.

Smarter Way to Manage Volunteers
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the SVM to other organisations. It has given me the tools to improve our existing volunteer programme. Based on our Dynamic Model of Volunteering, Volunteer Glasgow’s online Smarter Volunteer Manager (SVM) programme equips anyone who manages volunteers—or aspires to do so—with the knowledge, skills and practical tools to build meaningful, sustainable volunteering programmes that benefit your organisation, your volunteers, and the communities they support.
Over six interactive sessions, you’ll learn how to:
- Improve volunteer recruitment and retention.
- Enhance the experience volunteers have with your organisation.
- Build a strong volunteering programme that reflects your organisation’s goals, values and the needs of both your volunteers and the communities you serve.
Whether you’re developing a new volunteering programme or looking to strengthen an established one, SVM is designed to support organisations of all sizes and stages of development. It’s an investment that will deliver lasting benefits for you, your volunteers and your organisation.

(Session dates: 10th, 17th, 24th Feb & 3rd, 10th, 24th March)
Please note: Sessions are weekly with a two-week gap is provided before the last session of each programme to prepare for participants’ ‘Present Your Vision’ session.
