Smarter Volunteer Manager – Book Now for April/May session!
ur popular Smarter Volunteer Manager Training is now taking bookings for our April/May sessions! The course will take place over 6 weeks on Wednesday mornings from 19th April to 31st May and cost £250 (limited free spaces for organisations of <£20,000 turnover). Places are first come, first serve and limited to six attendees.

The SVM programme is designed to be Peer-Led/ Informal learning environment facilitated by Volunteer Glasgow Staff. Therefore, the Training is:
- Learner driven and self-directed.
- A relaxed experience for participants.
- Expands participants’ reference and knowledge points on engaging volunteers.

Support for Heritage Organisations with Make Your Mark
Are you a volunteer-involving heritage organisation?
Our friends at Make Your Mark are here to help! Make Your Mark is a campaign to increase the number and diversity of heritage volunteers in Scotland. They have a wide definition of heritage organisations and projects, and support all volunteer roles and programmes that preserve, discover, record and/or celebrate Scotland’s places, people and stories.
Joining Make Your Mark is completely free and gives you access to a range of resources and support, including:
- Networking events for heritage volunteer organisers within Scotland’s heritage sector
- Inclusive volunteering case study events about how to make volunteer programmes more diverse and accessible
- A curated monthly e-newsletter with the latest in inclusive heritage volunteering
- Promotion of your volunteer opportunities through their website and social media

Free Volunteer Advertising Service – Callout for Eco Volunteering Roles
As we head into spring it’s a great time to advertise for volunteering roles! Add your roles to the site through your Volunteer Glasgow provider account and our team will review, offer support and guidance, publish to the site and advertise on social media.
As part of the international Earth Day campaign in April, we will also be highlighting eco-friendly volunteering roles, so if this is relevant to your organisation make sure to submit your opportunities soon.
Kinetic (the system that powers Volunteer Glasgow’s online volunteer advertising service) has recently launched a number of new features and updates. While we hope these features will improve your experience, we understand that there is always a learning curve when changes take place!

Mental Health & Wellbeing in Sport Training – Scottish Sports Future & GSEN
Scottish Sports Futures (SSF) will be delivering a fully-funded Mental Health and Wellbeing module online next Friday (24th) in partnership with Glasgow Social Enterprise Network (GSEN).
This training is useful beyond sport and will focus on anxiety, motivation, stress and more. Anyone can attend. Find out more here.

The Big Help Out
The Big Help Out will take place on the Bank Holiday Monday of the King’s Coronation weekend, 8th May.
As part of this event thousands of organisations across the UK will get together to mark The King’s Coronation by giving everybody the chance to try volunteering for themselves and make a difference in their community.
From March 20th a full list of the opportunities on offer will be available for individuals and businesses to view, and to sign up to!
As a volunteer-involving organisation you can help by:www.thebighelpout.org.uk on 20th March for social media, posters and other resources to help to promote and celebrate your event. – Planning your events for May 8th. These could be taster sessions, to give people a feel for what it is you do, or something special for the day. – Spread the word. Let other organisations know to save the date and check
Volunteer Managers’ Network – Join In!
Our Slack forum for Volunteer Managers continues to grow – there are now over 120 volunteer coordinators and managers networking and sharing resources on the forum!
There is a general channel for discussion and networking as well as a training channel specifically for sharing helpful training ideas for yourselves as volunteer managers, or your volunteers. We are eager for the forum to develop over time as it grows and changes to suit member’s needs, so please do get involved and help shape the network to best support volunteer managers across Glasgow.
