Great news!  We want to ensure that we recognise and support the great efforts of young people helping in their communities, many of whom won't have volunteered before, and as such Saltire Awards have relaxed the rules on informal volunteering during the Covid-19 crisis. 

Young people (aged 12-25) can claim awards up to 100 hours' Saltire Award certificates for Covid-19 related volunteering, for example things like helping neighbours, people self-isolating in local communities, being involved with local mutual aid groups etc.  The volunteering must take place between 23/3/20 and 31/8/20 (or whenever lockdown/social distancing measures are relaxed, this will be kept under review)

Are you an experienced young volunteer who would like to encourage others to get involved?  Could you share the benefits you have gained from volunteering and help others to enjoy the same?  If so Volunteer Glasgow's Youth Volunteering Ambassadors would love you to join them.  Age range 12-25.

The Youth Volunteering Ambassadors team at Volunteer Glasgow is looking to expand.  They had a busy year last year and the same, if not more, planned for 2019, so now is the time to get on board!  Next year they will be promoting volunteering to young people in a wide variety of settings across Glasgow, co-ordinating an online photo exhibition, researching and submitting funding bids, planning and organising a Saltire Summit Celebration Event, sitting on the Summit Panel...and much more!

Young Disabled People Summit -

open to young disabled people aged 15 - 30 years of age.  If you are living with any type of impairment, disability or long term condition, you might really enjoy this wonderful event

The event will take place at a Glasgow City Centre location that (yet to be confirmed) on Thursday 29th November from 10am - 4pm.


Parents and carers are also invited to attend (with or without the young person they support and regardless of the child's age).

Volunteer Glasgow's Youth Volunteering Ambassadors would like to invite all young volunteers in Glasgow to get involved with an exciting new project to celebrate the Year of Young People 2018 #YOYP2018.

We are organising ' Volunteers of Glasgow: Photovoice Exhibition', to be held in GOOD, Buchanan Galleries from 17-24 August.  The exhibition will celebrate and showcase the photographs and stories of Glasgow's young volunteers (aged 8-25 years old).

To make the event a success, we need your help!  Please spread the word to all of the young volunteers you know and work with.  Invite them to send us their photographs and stories.

Make Do and Grow is a new,  not-for-profit social enterprise in Glasgow, focused on supporting growing families with children aged 3-12, developing creativity and encouraging re-use and recycle.

At their shop in Govan, they are looking for volunteers who can commit to 3 hours per week engaging with families and making them feel welcome, serving at the till, restocking and making the shop look fun and inviting for customers big and small!

If you are creative, you could also get involved in supporting the creative activities going on in-store.
