Carly’s story:

Carly (16) was placed on the child protection register because of neglect issues and possible contact with schedule 1 offenders.

Matched to her mentor Mary in March 2016, the weekly contact over the last 3 years has developed into a challenging, consistent, trusting, fun and positive befriending relationship, which has seen Carly’s confidence grow to a level where she is able to share worries and concerns and engage fully in exciting activities.

With Carly’s consent, we have been able to identify appropriate agencies to support her with some very difficult issues. Mary’s support, combined with effective partnership working and improvements in the family situation, has been instrumental in removing Carly’s name from the Child Protection register. Carly is more positive about the future and is currently exploring employment and further education opportunities.
