Supporting those with autism

National Autistic Society has two exciting opportunities –  click the links for more info and to Join;

  • Moving Forward Mentors supporting a young person aged 16-24 as they prepare for and enter the world of employment by providing one to one mentoring on specific skills. Goals that you might be helping a young person achieve could be being able to travel independently, building confidence or social skills or finding a job.
  • Social Group Supporters to attend fortnightly support group meetings that provide a safe opportunity for adults to socialise and to meet others who are also on the autism spectrum.

    Understanding of autism is an advantage but we provide training before you begin volunteering. The role is fully supported with regular review meetings with the service coordinator and peer support from other volunteers. All agreed travel expenses will be reimbursed.

    This is a great opportunity to add to your CV, learn new skills and gain access to further training, meet new people and be part of a great team.  References can also be provided.

    We welcome applications from those with a a diagnosis of autism or Asperger syndrome.
