About this opportunity:

Join the Seven Lochs Volunteers to gain new skills, discover urban wildlife sites, learn more about the environment and meet new people. Volunteers have the opportunity to carry out practical conservation tasks and wildlife surveys at nature reserves and country parks in The Seven Lochs Wetland Park.

The tasks range from tree planting to constructing nest boxes, and wildlife identification/surveying to digging ponds. Safety equipment and tools are provided along with refreshments. For those looking at a career in conservation, volunteering with Seven Lochs could provide valuable experience.

The Park is located in North East Glasgow/Coatbridge and the group meets on Fridays. Volunteers from North East Glasgow and Coatbridge are particularly welcome.

Frequency & Commitment: There is no minimum time commitment. The task days are weekly and volunteers are encouraged to attend as often as they can.

Group/Organisation aims: Destined to become Scotland's largest urban nature park, the Seven Lochs Wetland Park is an exciting new Green Network project. In 2016 we secured a £4.5 million award from Heritage Lottery Fund to support a £6.8 million project to develop the Seven Lochs Wetland Park as a major new heritage park for Scotland.Encompassing seven lochs, five local nature reserves, a country park and one of Glasgow’s oldest buildings, the park's miles of waking and cycling routes provide the perfect place to unwind from the stresses of city life.Over the next 5 years the project partners will work together to develop the park as a place for people, nature and heritage.  TCV Scotland are responsible for the delivery of the volunteer activities for the project.
