About this opportunity:
Cranhill Development Trust is seeking 10 fit and active volunteers to become Walk Leaders. You need to be over 18 years of age and able to lead a walking group of mixed ability people. Full training will be provided. A love of keeping fit and the outdoors is essential. The walks take place on Wednesday between 9:45am - 12:15pm. The role will include supporting members of the community to get out and be active, learning about local history and environment of the East End of Glasgow. After training it is envisaged that the walks will be volunteer led. Walk leaders must prepare walk routes well in advance and base them in and around the Cranhill community. Each walk will have a theme based on social history, landscapes/landmarks and health and well being. This is an excellent opportunity for keeping fit, developing leadership skills, participating in training and widening your social circle. HOW TO GET INVOLVED: You can register your interest in this role by contacting the Trust by telephone or by email using the form at the bottom of the page. The next step CDT will take will be to invite you to meet with the Volunteer Coordinator for an informal chat. You should be able to start volunteering within 1-2 weeks of your enquiry.

Where does it happen/How do I get there?
Travel expenses are paid daily - public transport costs are reimbursed to a maximum of £4.50 per day on production of valid tickets. Volunteering shifts last for 4 hours so volunteers will be offered a bite to eat and refreshments.

Skills, experience, or qualifications required: Applicants should be fit and healthy, have a friendly manner, reliable and enthusiastic, looking to meet new people and develop their knowledge of the local area, able to commit to training, flexible with their time and develop interpersonal skills.
