Scottish Canals Team Challenges
Calling all teams of between 5 – 15 people. Scottish Canals needs your help once more.
If you can spare some time to come along and assist you will be made most welcome.
Please:
- Dress for the weather forecasted and wear old clothes.
- Wear safety/sturdy footwear
- Bring a snack/packed lunch
Scottish Canals will provide all the tools required for the activities.
VOLUNTEERING DAYS AVAILABLE:
15th November The Forth & Clyde Canal: Sensory Garden in Auchinstarry Marina near Kilsyth
Tasks: Garden Maintenance for Winter. Creation of a new Rose Bed. Willow Structure Maintenance.
Meeting Point: Auchinstarry Marina at 10am. Meet in the Blue Volunteers Hut
21st November The Falkirk Wheel
Tasks: Willow cutting/weaving, Vegetation control, Garden maintenance, Litter picking the canal towpath
22nd November Auchinstarry Marina near Kilsyth Sensory Garden
Tasks: Garden Maintenance for Winter, Creation of new Rose BEd, Willow structure maintenance.
29th November The Falkirk Wheel
Tasks Christmas Decorations and outside Maintenance.
1st December Forth & Clyde Canal at Maryhill Litter Pick
Tasks: Litter pick the area and the Towpath east and west on the canal.
Meeting point: 11am at Ruchill Church next to McDonalds
Duration – 3 hours
6th & 7th December Firhill Island Cutting Vegetation
Tasks Access the island to cut the vegetation to allow a survey team to inspect. The island has not been set foot on for some time. This will be a bit of an exploration into the unknown.
21st December The Union Canal Litter Pick
Tasks Litter the Union Canal from Calders to West Hailles Park
