Counselling to health
Have some counselling/coaching experience and/or qualifications? Contribute to Breast Cancer Now’s ambition ‘A future where everybody who develops breast cancer lives – and lives well’. Access certificated training, learn new skills and enhance your CV. Develop your knowledge and understanding of lifestyle choices and their impact on the risk of developing breast cancer. You’ll be part of an exciting and innovative project, supporting the successful delivery of the ActWELL trial in Glasgow. Many women are not aware that lifestyle factors, such as physical activity, weight and alcohol consumption, can impact on your risk of developing breast cancer. ActWELL is a research trial that aims to provide lifestyle advice to women of breast screening age. Lifestyle coaches will deliver 1 to 1 lifestyle counselling to women recruited to the trial, supporting them to make sustainable lifestyle changes with a focus on physical activity, diet and body weight. They will support each trial participant for 12 months, delivering 2 face to face lifestyle counselling sessions and 9 follow up support phone calls throughout the trial period. You need to be 18 or over.
Breast Cancer Now are looking for volunteers who:
• would like to be part of an exciting and innovative project.
• are committed to making a difference to women’s lives by providing personalised lifestyle advice
• Have experience of counselling/coaching
• are able to undertake the bespoke project training course (two days in Dundee – travel/accomodation costs covered as required)
