The £1000 RNIB Talking Book CHALLENGE

So just how good is your team under pressure?

Raise £1000 in a day so that the RNIB can produce a Talking Book for people whose lives have been devastated by sight loss, and have the book dedicated to your Team.  How fab is that?!

The Challenge:

Away from your normal offices, we will set up your team’s base camp somewhere in the city centre. There – under the guidance of an RNIB fundraiser – you will plan a strategy, allocate roles according to your individual strengths, and raise the money.

The RNIB fundraiser will facilitate your use of:

  • Justgiving and digital marketing tools (sponsorship)
  • Telephone appeals
  • Radio Appeals
  • Permits for bucket collections
  • E-Bay auction
  • Raffles
  • Any public licences requireD

Your team will choose the method(s) they feel suit them best/that are likely to be most successful, and will be under the clock to raise £1000.

All teams will receive a certificate and successful teams will have an RNIB Talking Book dedicated to them in recognition. The dedication will be recorded on the book.

When?

A mid-week day most suitable for your team but at least 6 weeks from agreement to enable RNIB to set up leads, materials and permits.

Why?

Watch these online videos and discover how big an impact Talking Books have on the lives of 40,000 children and adults across the UK.  It costs £1000 to add a new book to the RNIB National Library of Audio, Braille and Giant print books for blind and partially sighted people.

Who?

  • Your team will ideally number 10 people (more difficult with less, easier probably with more)
  • Be able to commit to a 7 hour day
  • And will ideally have a mix of creative and practical people
  • Good communication skills, customer service skills, and knowledge of social network media are desirable.

Anything else?

  • RNIB will provide tea, coffee and sandwich lunch.
  • You will need to wear clothes suitable for the weather conditions on the day.
  • RNIB will provide media coverage before during and after the event, including our web site, facebook page, Twitter and Insight Radio.
