Need More Volunteers?
Do you need more student volunteers?
Glasgow Caledonian University will be holding 2 volunteer recruitment fairs where you can target students on 23rd and 24th February during Student Volunteers’ Week. The “Caledonian Volunteers” event will be heavily promoted to students and is an ideal opportunity to find the volunteers you need. There are only 10 stalls available per day (free of charge) which will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, but the 2 days are ‘themed’. More details/book a stall here.
Urgently Required
If you have a need to recruit volunteers urgently - either for an event or with a deadline set for recruitment, then feel free to ask us to promote this on our urgently required section of the website (subject to availability and not normally for any longer than 2 weeks). This service continues to be very successful in boosting enquiries from potential volunteers.
Have you been in touch with your Volunteer Centre recently?
If you need volunteers then make sure that the Volunteer Centre is up-to-date with your needs and is promoting this appropriately. Call and ask to speak with the Volunteer Organiser in your area to check.
The Volunteer Centre now has a revised range of options for potential volunteers to help them find your opportunities. People considering volunteering can:
- visit our website and view/contact the hundreds of opportunities listed there
- register online and we will email them the most relevant options to consider
- call us to have a telephone appointment
- meet with an adviser to discuss volunteering

Modernising Volunteering Survey
Volunteer Development Scotland are conducting a survey into the challenges organisations face in managing their volunteers and managing their volunteer practices. VDS would appreciate it if organisations would contribute about the challenges they are facing, the modernising approaches they are putting in place and the difference this is making.
Strengthening relations between paid staff and volunteers
Volunteering England and the TUC have just published 'A Charter for strengthening relations between paid staff and volunteers'. Its starting point is that volunteering plays an essential role in the economic and social fabric of the UK. There is also an excellent accompanying document with FAQs about volunteering in relation to the law and benefits.
