Job Vacancies at Volunteer Centre Glasgow

The Volunteer Centre has received funding from Community Jobs Scotland to employ two office juniors. One will be based at our head office in Miller Street and the other in our Carer’s Centre in Anniesland.  Both posts are based on a 34 hour week, paid the national minimum wage of £3.68 per hour and will last for a period of 9 months.

All applicants must meet Community jobs criteria and be 16/17 years of age and be unemployed for a minimum of 6 months.  Applicants must be referred by a Skills Development Advisor or Job Centre Plus Advisor who will check eligibility.

Office Junior (age 16-17)

£3.68 per hour – 34 hours per week

Duties

  • Provide a first point of contact for visitors to the Volunteer Centre, e.g. volunteers, clients, user groups, other local workers and the general public, supplying them with information regarding the Centre or informing staff member of appointment.
  • Answer busy switchboard and redirect calls to appropriate member of staff, take messages and make appointments.
  • Book potential volunteers into information/Volunteer involving organisation taster sessions.
  • General administration tasks including filing, photocopying, mail handling
  • Input/update data in both internal and national databases.
  • Assist in the transfer of data from VBay to MILO.

Skills/ Knowledge

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • An anti-discriminatory approach to working with people from all sections of the community
  • Awareness of confidentiality issues
  • Computing skills (preferably Microsoft Word, Excel, Access)
  • Good literacy and numeric skills

Experience/(Qualifications)

  • No experience required as full training will be given.
