| The scheme was set to promote the involvement of volunteers to befriend isolated and vulnerable older people living in the G15 area. We also provide support to people over 50 with physical disabilities and/or suffering from mental health problems. Project aims & objectives:
What do volunteers do? Keep the person company in their own home for a couple of hours per week
-have a chat, offer a listening ear There is no typical volunteer, volunteers come from a range of backgrounds
~ all we require is that people have time to listen and show a caring
interest in others who need extra support. So if you.... Have a couple of hours spare per week (day/evening or weekends) Contact us now If you would like to volunteer or make a referral to scheme, contact:
How do I get a visitor or join the lunch club? All you need to do is contact the address shown above or if you have any other services ask them to pass your details on your behalf. Our Support Worker will call to see you to explain more or answer any questions you may have Home visiting We try to match you with a volunteer visitor as soon as we can and we also like to make sure it is the right person for you. The time of visit is up to you and what you would like to do - either stay in for a chat or go out for a couple of hours. The Support Worker keeps in touch to make sure everything is okay. Lunch Club The lunch club operates 3 afternoons per week Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 12noon - 2.00pm. We are based at the Stonedyke Centre. We have transport to take you there and home again, if required. You have a bite to eat a chat with new friends and a game of bingo. Again, if you are interested just contact the address above and we can get you started right away. Throughout the year we try to organise outings and activies for all home visiting and lunch club members.
