Meet the Team — Volunteering Services
Volunteering Adviser (Young People), North West
A big chunk of the work I do involves convincing 16-year-olds that volunteering is a viable alternative route towards employment so it’s fortunate that I rather enjoy a challenge! Life at Volunteer Glasgow is never boring.
In my spare time, I walk, run, swim and read low-brow escapist nonsense to keep me sane. I also enjoy watching Andy Murray play tennis, when I feel like taking the stress levels up a notch or two. In between all that, my two children (aged 3 and 7) get the occasional look-in!

My job involves providing information, advice, training and support to volunteers and advising organisations on volunteer involvement. I also develop links with other organisations working in the city. I am a Belgian citizen with Rwanda & Burundi backgrounds. I love sport activities: swimming, kayaking, cycling. I love to spend time with my family and best friends.

My job involves helping volunteers find roles that are suitable for them, and advising organisations on volunteer involvement. I also develop links with other organisations working in the North East. I am an islander, from Islay in the Inner Hebrides. I like swimming in the sea there (when it’s warm). Outside work I love art, fashion, movies and novels.

Volunteering Advisor, South East
I joined Volunteer Glasgow at the end of 2014 as a sessional member of staff and I am now the newbie in the Volunteering Team. My area is the South East of Glasgow. I am really enjoying my new role here at Volunteer Glasgow, it’s been great getting to know everyone! In my spare time I enjoy live music, the great outdoors and working my way through box sets.

Volunteering Development Co-ordinator, North West & City Centre
My work is varied but all focussed on making volunteering in Glasgow better experience for all, whether you are an organisation looking to involve volunteers or a volunteer looking for guidance. I have been volunteering since I was a child and I studied fine art at Grays. I enjoy running the odd art class but I am lucky that I have a real passion for what I do with Volunteer Glasgow.

Hi I’m Helen. I’ve been very happily employed by Volunteer Glasgow for almost 10 years. I’m very proud to work here and very proud of the work we do. Sometimes, we see people start to transform their lives for the better through volunteering. It’s a great feeling knowing I’ve played a very small part in that.
If you are an individual who is thinking about volunteering I’m very happy to talk things through with you to help you to find the right opportunity or volunteering course. If you are an organization who involves volunteers, I’m also very happy to work with you to help you to develop volunteering roles, help to make you aware of changing legislation and/or organisational opportunities – and facilitate opportunities to meet with other like-minded organisations and projects.
